We would love to have your organization, company, or community garden donate food to our cause. We thrive on donations from the community and appreciate any vegetarian fare you have to offer. We are glad to accept:
(view our wishlist for more specific needs for dry stock and equipment)
Note that we welcome blemished, overripe, and food items in similar states. You can usually leave it up to our discretion, and we are glad to clean up and process produce, bread, dry stock, etcetera in whatever form it comes in. We like to ensure that we are both providing a healthy, wholesome meal and are making the best of what would otherwise be food waste in the community.
Liability
If you are concerned about your liability when donating food items, please read the Good Samaritan Act (PDF), a Federal law passed in the late 90's that protects the legal liability of organizations, businesses and individuals when donating food to initiatives such as ours. We are also prepared to draw up and/or sign written legal documents if your company or organization requires it.
Not tax exempt (yet)
Also, note that we are not (yet) a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. We are considering taking on such a status, however, for now, we are a voluntary association with no actual legal organization or structure. We are a self-managed, autonomous chapter of an international collective of food not bombs chapters. If you would be interested in donating once we have a tax exempt status, please let us know, because the more interest we get in that regard, the greater effort we will put behind taking on a status from a parent organization.
Recognition and Solidarity
Lastly, we find it important to highlight what kind of exposure your organization or company will get. We will definitely give you recognition, if you like (or keep it confidential, if that is your desire). However, do not consider this an advertising opportunity, nor do we intend to allow it to serve any other type of commercial/capitalistic function. Your donating food to our organization is considered, by us, as an act of solidarity, not charity.
